Short side of this story is,we went with U haul (a few bucks more),but well worth it! I orignally called budget because I wanted to deal with location directly to book reservation and use a coupon. We needed Sunday, location closed on Sunday, we're willing to pick up Saturday and pay the extra day. I had 25% off on Sun-Thurs rental. On-line reservations would't honor coupon because I HAD to book Saturday reservation. FINE-I called the store. At which point I was told by Kim, she had no trucks. So back online I go. Forget the code,what did she have available? Well,online says she does have a 24ft truck. GREAT! I call her back,either someone cancelled,or they were going to get truck from across the bridge in Vermont. Well,Kim says,I have 2 trucks, but they are both broken. OK-I said,can you call Vermont and have a truck ready for me in Plattsburgh for Saturday at 1:30pm? Nope, she can not do this. WHY? Because I did not give her a weeks notice. MIND YOU its Tuesday morning, I need to pick up truck 1:30pm Saturday. Its a phone call and about a 30 min drive. REALLY? YOU CAN'T HELP ME MAKE YOU MONEY? Now I'm annoyed. So I call customer service. At which point the woman Christine, tells me,well you can pick it up in Vermont. NO, NO I can not just go pick it up in Vermont. That's not convienent for ME. So she says,she can take my payment,book the truck for Plattsburgh,but when I get there Saturday I will not have a truck. At this point her attitude is NOT her best approach with me. I said,I need to speak to manager. Christine says I can't speak to a manager in customer service until I book the reservation! The reservation that at this point I know they will not honor. WHAT?!? I get angry, and tell her to get a supervisor on the damned phone NOW. She hangs up on me! I call back. That's right,4th time on phone with Budget. I speak to reservations,ask for supervisor,I will not speak to anyone but supervisor. Sam,the reservation supervisor gets on phone with me. He hears my entire story,tells me that he is sorry. I say,well lets fix this. You get on phone with South Burlington (30 min away from Plattsburgh) get a truck to the Plattsburgh location. He informs me (spervisor in RESERVATIONS),that he can not make any outgoing calls on the phone. So I asked him, are you telling me you can not call your own businesses? He replies,yes,I can not make out going calls of any kind. I can give you the pone number to vermont locations,YOU (me, the customer paying for their services)can call vermont locations to see if they would bring a truck over to NY location. If not I can drive to Vermont,get a truck,drive back to NY,move my stuff 20 minutes down the road from its current storage,then drive a truck back to vermont. And Budget will WORK WITH ME ON MILAGE COSTS! I repeat to Sam what he just said to me. That was,that we can go out of our way to get a truck to spend more time driving to and from and to the truck location in vermont and we get to spend more money on gas,more time in travelling,AND still pay mileage charges?!?!? WOW- THANK YOU BUDGET! At this point he suggests transferring me to customer service,same place the last B@TCH hung up on me. To customer service I go,get another rep who can't get a manager without a booked reservation. At this point I'm done with Budget. Never in my life have I ever been told I had to call to confirm the truck I paid for was actually at the location. Nor have I ever been told I had to drive to another location, to pick up out of my way, and pay more gas & mileage. BUT for those of you who read this and need a GOOD service with a local moving truck rental company, I recommend U Haul on military turnpike. I spoke to Jennifer, tok her all of 5 minutes to book the truck, AND she is personally driving to a different location to pick up a dolly for us! OH- and we pick up our truck Saturday, return it by 7am Monday, and she is only charging us for 1 day use! Just because its not the customers fault they are closed on Sundays! So the customer is not paying extra for Sunday! HIGHLY recommend U haul!
