Here's the kicker: He tells me that he realized his mistake as soon as we got off the call. He further says he THOUGHT about calling me right away to correct his mistake, but just figured he'd tell me once I got in.
I enjoy the friendly conversation while waiting and always know I'll get the best service in town. Kent & Tom go out of their way to ensure I get convenient and superior customer support. I recommend anyone to stop by for great service, conversation, and a cup of coffee.
Now, remember how he didn't want me to have to drive up to Plattsburgh on Tuesday when there was a chance the part wouldn't be in. Of course, if the part wasn't in, he wouldn't make any money off me. But when there was a pricing error that ran in his favor, he was perfectly fine having me drive one-and-a-half hours. There's a pretty strong implication here: He thought he had me trapped with a quack quote.
Surely there have to be better, more honest, more customer-friendly auto repairs shops in the area.
Fast forward to Wednesday. I spend the 45 minutes driving to the shop. I walk in, explain who I was. I dealt with the same employee I spoke with on the phone. He says that he made a mistake: Even though he explicitly said it would take two hours to do the job (his words today, not mine), and even though he knew that labor was $100 and change an hour, he "accidentally" misquoted the price by $100. So instead of the $270 quote I received on Monday, I was now looking at $370.
The best and most reliable shop in town! Highly recommend
He didn't. I walked away. You should too. Go somewhere else.
On Monday morning, I called to get an estimate to replace a window regulator in my car. The employee found the price of the part. Then, the employee explicitly said it would take two hours of work. He quoted me a price of $270. I accepted that quote, then he ordered the part. Originally, he was going to have me come in on Tuesday. But he asked me where I lived. Because I was staying 45 minutes away, he decided to have me come in on Wednesday, so that I wouldn't have to drive an hour-and-a-half if UPS was slow on Tuesday.
Been taking my BMW to Albany for service. Not anymore. Had issues with my vehicle and didn't feel like making 6 hr round trip to Albany. Went to European Autohaus. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and honest in their assessment of my vehicle. After a few hours wait was happily on my way. My vehicle has a new home for all services. Thank you!!
Thomas and his crew at European Autohaus have worked on our Volvos for over 5 years. They are always honest and professional and I trust their recommendations and advice. We Just brought our 2005 Volvo XC90 in for an inspection and issues with the check engine light. They diagnosed the problem quickly and we were inspected and in and out at a fair price. I recommend you give them a try for yourself. A+
